Screenwriter Richard Kurti visits King John School and Sixth Form

Successful director and screenwriter Richard Kurti (who has worked with Film Studios Universal and Miramax amongst others) visited GCSE and A Level Film and Media students on 3rd October to talk about pathways into the industry as well as support students with their coursework.

Richard has written episodes of Primeval, Wolfblood and Sinbad, along with adapting work for both screen and radio.

Rachel Jones, Film Studies A Level Student at the Sixth Form said:

‘Meeting Richard was an inspiring experience and I’ll definitely be using what he taught me today in both my A Levels and in the future!’

Richard Kurti said:

‘I never had a film education, so to know that these students are learning about the art of cinema – and the opportunities the school provides for them – is fantastic. I have thoroughly enjoyed being here today.’

Mrs Poole, teacher of Film and Media at the school said:

“Having professionals from the field of media and film come into class is highly beneficial for students. Not only does it allow them to hear from industry experts who give them a real insight into this as a viable career path, it also provides skills in writing that the students can then implement in their coursework component (NEA). Having been witness to Richards creative and visual techniques for teaching students about narrative, theme and character before I know the impact this can have on students work and on their imagination”
