Year 8 – Mr Selby-Knight
Year 8 is probably the most important year in your school life. Students have settled in to the routines of the school and confidence grows. It is during this year that you will have to decide upon the subjects that you wish to take to be examined in when you get to year 11. Advice will be given along the way with a combination of Parent’s evenings, assemblies and newsletters to help with decision making. It is vitally important that that both students and parents spend time thinking about how these decisions may affect their future.
Along with the academic work that needs to be done a number of opportunities are available for students to take up to widen their school experiences and develop as a person. There are many extra-curricular activities that students can get involved in which include music, drama, dance shows and a multitude of sporting activities. There are also many responsibilities that can be undertaken ranging from tutor group representatives, vivo reps, sports captains, charity reps, student voice and buddies for year 7 pupils. There is also an end of year reward trip for students who have met our expectations.
