Next Steps - Post 18

Your time at King John is special, but it’s also an important time to plan your next step – whether that means university, an apprenticeship, or the start of your working career.

We provide opportunities for you to meet with your form tutor, specialist teachers, and resident careers advisors in order to plan your next step.

“Our sixth form provides an exceptional academic curriculum blended with personalised support to ensure we understand our students’ aspirations and support them in reaching exceptional destinations. Around 15% of our students go on to attend Russell Group universities with many others reaching “top third” institutions.  Students choosing not to go to university are supported to achieve a range of high quality apprenticeships.”

Mr Beal, Head of Sixth Form

“Seven out of ten students submit an application to UCAS. We help them make informed choices, guiding them through the entire application process. Our programme involves events, workshops and clinics for advice on completing applications, writing personal statements and further resources for students and parents.”

Mr Duncan, UCAS Coordinator

“To help students consider all post-18 options, we offer advice on apprenticeships, gap years and employment as well as resources to support students considering study abroad. Our strong employer links mean we are able to offer a range of opportunities for students to gain an insight into the application process through mock interviews, assessment centre workshops and employability skills seminars.  Our use of Unifrog also supports learners in considering all pathways. Our LinkedIn page shows the wide range of careers our students go into.”

Mrs Denny, Head of Careers

 Hear from our Ex-Students

“Big shout out to the King John Sixth Form for always creating an alternative pathway for students! Definitely would not be where I am today without their continuous help and support during my A Levels!”

M Bird, Compliance Apprentice, legal team, Christies.

“I have received lots of support about studying abroad. Information about entrance exams, guest speakers and contacts with ex-sixth formers who are already out there, has really supported in making my decisions after A-Level”

N Kauders

“I have had so much support on my CV, practice interviews and other skills so I can hopefully get the apprenticeship I want”
