• Tuesday 2 June 2026 Winter Paralympic Snowboarder Matthew Hamilton It was really nice to welcome former student and Winter #Paralympic Snowboarder Matthew Hamilton back to school to inspire the next generation. KJS U14 Girls Crowned Essex Cup Champions! 🏆Huge congratulations to the KJS U14 girls #Football team, who have been crowned Essex Cup Champions following an incredible and inspiring journey!The girls showed outstanding determination throughout the competition, including a fantastic semi-final victory over last year's Essex Cup champions. Their confidence and teamwork continued into the final, where they faced a strong and well-respected Redden Court side at Aveley FC.In what was an exceptional performance, the team went from strength to strength, dominating the game and securing a convincing 4–0 victory."Every single player was a credit to KJS on the day, demonstrating resilience, teamwork, and pride in representing the school. • Friday 15 May 2026 Speak Out Challenge Regional Final We are incredibly proud to share photos from the #JackPetchey #SpeakOut Challenge Regional Final, where King John student CJ Carter represented the school among the top 18 students selected to compete in the regional finals.CJ delivered a powerful and inspiring speech centered around chasing dreams and persevering through challenges. His message reflected our Pride Values throughout, particularly positivity and resilience, as he spoke honestly about setbacks he had faced and the determination needed to overcome them. Through thoughtful metaphor and heartfelt delivery, CJ encouraged both the audience and judges to reflect on their own ambitions and to act upon them despite barriers or self-doubt.His performance was not only moving, but also inspirational for many students who may struggle with confidence or public speaking, proving that courage and perseverance can help individuals truly shine. They took part in a fantastic workshop on Script to Screen and got to see some really rare #HarryPotter props and then had a tour of the amazing studio. • Thursday 7 May 2026 Language Leaders Our lovely #Year9 #Language leaders completed their second visit in April. The French language leaders taught the topics of Animals and Weather to year 3 students at Kingston and the Spanish language leaders taught Numbers and Birthdays to the year 3 class at Montogmerie.Our students have spent weeks planning and preparing these lessons and then delivered them themselves to the students. Both schools have commented on how professional and confident our students were and our language leaders have now been presented with a pin badge as they are two thirds of the way their language leader qualification.#KingJohn #Zenith

What a fantastic week of sport with THREE Essex Cup finals! ⚽🏏First up, our U13 girls cricket team showed incredible skill and determination in the Essex Championships. After winning every game in their group, they earned a place in the final. Although they narrowly missed out on the win, reaching the final is an outstanding achievement—well done, girls!We also want to celebrate our U12 boys and girls KJS #Football teams, who both made it to their Essex Cup finals. They faced strong, experienced opponents and gave it their all. They focussed on picking up litter with PRIDE to ensure we look after our community. • Tuesday 14 March 2023 Year 8 Rugby Tour to Wales Well done to the students that attended the #Year8 #Rugby Tour to Wales.The boys were brilliant at all times and took in lots of the #Welsh culture! They played two games against excellent opposition, losing a close game to Caerleon Comprehensive school and winning a hard fought contest against Rhiwbina Rugby Club on Sunday. They also took part in bowling and had a training session at Cardiff Blues Stadium - Cardiff Arms Park, as well as a tour of the Principality Stadium!Finally, they watched Cardiff Blues play Ulster in the United Rugby Championship competition. • Thursday 9 March 2023 Hallman Photographic Competition Challenge Introducing ‘Hallmann Photographic Competition Challenge’, in honour of Robert Hallmann. Hallmann was a graphic designer, author and despite not being formally trained, a very talented photographer. A German by birth, he loved Essex and was proud to make it his home. He had a great curiosity in the world around him and saw images everywhere, whether the subjects were landscape, still life or people. Images are everywhere! You just have to look… 1st Prize receives £100. 2 runners up receive £50 Gift Vouchers. Including certificate and badge. Open to ALL KJS Students. Participants can submit only 1 photo. Submissions must be taken within the last year. Entrants will be asked to sign Prelease forms for us to use these images online and for advertising. • Wednesday 25 January 2023 Anti Bullying Assemblies Mrs Johnston and Miss Murray ran anti-bullying assemblies for all the year groups. Students were invited on stage to “bully” Mrs Johnston, and she demonstrated how victims can shift the impower of balance. Bullying is rare at KJS, however it is important students are reminded how to report issues and know we deal with incidents effectively.

Professor Bracking specialises in #climate finance and development and has been talking to students about her work and life at King’s.
• Tuesday 25 February 2020 “You Said, We Did” launched at King John School “In order to strengthen the Student Voice in our school we have launched the You Said, We Did initiative. Our students regularly have the chance to write suggestions as to areas of the school they would like to develop and post them in the Positive Feedback Postbox in the central area of the school. The school then looks to address those suggestions.The 90 students (across all year groups) who form the Executive Student Voice Committee also discuss these suggestions. The student voice representatives meet the Headteacher, the Deputies and Governors to voice their views on the school.The school feeds back to our student body via emails to all our students as to what they have suggested for developments (You Said…) and what the school has done about the ideas (We Did….). We are proud of our students for embracing school life and wanting to develop our school as a positive community.” – Alison Murray
