• Tuesday 14 March 2023 Year 8 Rugby Tour to Wales Well done to the students that attended the #Year8 #Rugby Tour to Wales.The boys were brilliant at all times and took in lots of the #Welsh culture! They played two games against excellent opposition, losing a close game to Caerleon Comprehensive school and winning a hard fought contest against Rhiwbina Rugby Club on Sunday. They also took part in bowling and had a training session at Cardiff Blues Stadium - Cardiff Arms Park, as well as a tour of the Principality Stadium!Finally, they watched Cardiff Blues play Ulster in the United Rugby Championship competition. • Thursday 9 March 2023 Hallman Photographic Competition Challenge Introducing ‘Hallmann Photographic Competition Challenge’, in honour of Robert Hallmann. Hallmann was a graphic designer, author and despite not being formally trained, a very talented photographer. A German by birth, he loved Essex and was proud to make it his home. He had a great curiosity in the world around him and saw images everywhere, whether the subjects were landscape, still life or people. Images are everywhere! You just have to look… 1st Prize receives £100. 2 runners up receive £50 Gift Vouchers. Including certificate and badge. Open to ALL KJS Students. Participants can submit only 1 photo. Submissions must be taken within the last year. Entrants will be asked to sign Prelease forms for us to use these images online and for advertising. • Wednesday 25 January 2023 Anti Bullying Assemblies Mrs Johnston and Miss Murray ran anti-bullying assemblies for all the year groups. Students were invited on stage to “bully” Mrs Johnston, and she demonstrated how victims can shift the impower of balance. Bullying is rare at KJS, however it is important students are reminded how to report issues and know we deal with incidents effectively.

Professor Bracking specialises in #climate finance and development and has been talking to students about her work and life at King’s.
• Tuesday 25 February 2020 “You Said, We Did” launched at King John School “In order to strengthen the Student Voice in our school we have launched the You Said, We Did initiative. Our students regularly have the chance to write suggestions as to areas of the school they would like to develop and post them in the Positive Feedback Postbox in the central area of the school. The school then looks to address those suggestions.The 90 students (across all year groups) who form the Executive Student Voice Committee also discuss these suggestions. The student voice representatives meet the Headteacher, the Deputies and Governors to voice their views on the school.The school feeds back to our student body via emails to all our students as to what they have suggested for developments (You Said…) and what the school has done about the ideas (We Did….). We are proud of our students for embracing school life and wanting to develop our school as a positive community.” – Alison Murray

Students had a discussion regarding the role of the Navy and what practical skills were involved in the career of a Navy Chef and Steward.
