Year 8
Mr Wagstaff
A message from Head of Year
As Head of Year 8 I am excited to continue to lead and support the students with their journey through The King John School. The year group so far have fully immersed themselves into life here at King John both inside and outside the classroom.
Year 8 will prove to be another year full of development and discovery for all the students. There is huge opportunities for all our students to continue to thrive, and I cannot wait to be by their side as they continue to grow. Leading this year group has been so rewarding, and I am excited to see more successes this year.
My vision for the year group is for the students to leave a lasting legacy, and year 8 in a better place than before. I want the students to continue to participate and grow in the classroom and in the school community participating clubs, leading charity events, and supporting whole school events. During every moment throughout the year, the year team are here to support and offer guidance.
Meet the Year 8 Team
We have a huge wealth of experience in the year 8 team with myself, Mr Wagstaff (Head of Year), Miss Russo (Assistant Head of Year), Mrs Guarnieri (Student Support Officer), Mrs Spearman (Deputy Headteacher), and Mr Green (Assistant Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead). We also work closely with all staff, the SEND department to ensure every student has a quality education and opportunity to develop their character.
What to expect in Year 8
Year 8 is a time to continue to grow and an important phase to continue with good habits while enjoying time to Discover, Participate, and Enjoy the curriculum and wider community here at King John.
- Discover – Students explore new classes, teachers, and continue developing their friendships in a positive environment. It’s a year of consolidating previous positive habits, but a chance to try new opportunities.
- Participate – We encourage every student to get involved in lessons, in clubs, in form time, and in wider school life. The more they put in, the more they’ll get out.
- Enjoy – This is a year to further build positive memories, find joy in learning, and feel proud of achievements big and small.
Year 8 is an opportunity to flourish further both inside and outside the classroom. There is again huge opportunities to develop academically and personally, and my team will lead students through this journey to develop their values, be positive, and give every thing their best effort.
Getting the most out of Year 8
