We teach Music to 

  • Develop musical theoretical skills in order to inform compositional and performance skills and techniques
  • Learn how to read a range of notation, such as standard western notation, rhythm grids and guitar tab to apply them to performance and composition
  • Be able to not only develop as independent learners to gain accuracy in their stylistic compositional features and note reading skills, but to also develop communication, leadership and listening skills in order to successfully work as an ensemble
  • Create their own material through knowledge learned in performance and composition;
  • Evaluate their progress through self and peer assessment to aid target setting and realisation of how progress can be made
  • Develop key skills that prove learner’s aptitude in music, such as responding to a musical brief using musical skills and techniques
  • Learn effective ways of working in the music industry, such as the development of musical ideas in composition and production, as well as using skills and techniques for rehearsal and performance to respond to the music industry brief
  • Consider the attitudes that are considered most important in the music industry, using personal management and communication
  • Gain knowledge that underpin the effective use of skills, processes and attitudes in the sector, such as musical skills and styles
