GCSE and A Level Examination Results 2020

Key Stage 5

100% of students achieved A*-E at A-Level

93% of students achieved A*-C at A-Level

68% of students achieved A*-B at A-Level

Level 3 Value added of +0.48 across all subjects

Level 3 Diploma 89% achieved D*-D

94.8% of students passed their Level 3 Extended Certificate with 82% achieving a M, D or D*.

Level 2 Maths resit average progress of + 1.22.

Level 2 English resit average progress of + 0.81.

KS5 Retention Rates (2020)

 99% of students who started Year 12 began Year 13.

100% of students who started Year 13 completed their full time Level 3 studies.

  • 2019 A-Level Results in the top 15% of providers in the UK (compared against 2996 schools and colleges across the UK)
  • A-Level Results in the top 15% of providers in the UK over a three year trend (2017, 2018 and 2019)
  • 99.7% of students achieved A*-E at A-Level
  • 83% of students achieved A*-C at A-Level
  • 54% of students achieved A*-B at A-Level
  • Level 3 Value added of +0.12 across all subjects
  • Level 3 Diploma 78% achieved D*-D.
  • 100% of students passed their Level 3 Extended Certificate with 82% achieving a M, D or D*.
  • Level 2 Maths resit average progress of + 1.06.
  • Level 2 English resit average progress of + 0.67.

  • 96% Students who started Year 12 begun Year 13.
  • 99.8% students who started Year 13 completed their full time Level 3 studies.

KS5 Student Destinations (2019 and 2020)

The King John Sixth Form is in the top 15% nationally, benchmarked against 2817 schools and colleges in the UK for A-level outcomes.
Students go on to university, employment and further training from the sixth form. Information, advice and guidance about post-18 provision supports our students accessing the correct courses and succeeding in their next steps. 133 students went on to study at university in September 2018.

In 2019 our destinations were as follows:

  • 59%- University or Higher Education with 100% of students achieved their firm or insurance choice of university
  • 19%- Employment
  • 15%- Students Apprenticeships
  • 7%- Gap Year/Other

In 2020 our destinations were as follows:

  • 62%- University or further education
  • 3%- Employment
  • 26%- Student Apprenticeship pathway
  • 11%- Gap Year/Other

It is worth noting in 2020:

  • 68% of students achieved A*-B at A-Level
  • 16 students achieved 3 As or better at A-level;
  • 37 students achieved A A B at A-level;

  • 77% achieved a standard pass in English and Maths (grade 4 or above)
  • 45% achieved a strong pass in English and Maths (grade 5 or above)
  • 88% of students achieved a standard pass or better in English.
  • 79% of students achieved a standard pass or better in Maths.
  • 68% achieved a minimum of 2 science GCSEs (grade 4 or above)
  • Attainment 8 score: 48.6
  • Progress 8 score: -0.195

  • 31% of students achieved a standard pass
