The Apprenticeship Programme:
For the apprentice, there’s nothing like getting first-hand experience and the employer benefits from offering genuine opportunity for someone with fresh ideas. Apprentices spend four days with their employer and one day in the sixth form. Apprenticeships provide routes into a variety of careers and offer the opportunity to earn, learn and achieve nationally recognised qualifications at level 2 and 3. We are successfully delivering apprenticeship programmes in Business Administration, Accountancy, Hair and Beauty.
Apprenticeships are a relatively new offer at the King John School and give the opportunity for students from the age of 16 to work, earn and learn at the same time. Apprentices can choose to study Business Administration, Accounting or Hair and spend one day in college and four days at work. Some Apprentices also get the chance to do Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT, improving on their GCSE standard. Apprenticeships start at level 2 and can progress to level 3 and even higher. Gaining work experience and an academic qualification give students a head start in the world of work and can be an excellent start to a full time career.
Earn while you learn and kick start your career.
Work is assessed through multiple choice tests, portfolio assignments and work based observations.
Employers also get a grant to help pay the salary of their apprentices so it can be a very good way to get new, young and enthusiastic employers into the business.
